Self-Organizable P2P Document Search Engine for Knowledge Management

چکیده
Locating contents is an essential function, but it presents a very diÆcult and challenging problem for large-scale Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems. Many P2P systems, protocols, architectures, and search strategies are proposed for this problem. In this paper, we focus on the selforganization of a community structure based on user preferences for P2P systems. We propose these methods to improve P2P search performance: 1) Extended Pong, 2) Pong Proxy, 3) QRP with Firework 4) Backward Learning, and 5) Community Self-Organization Algorithm. We evaluate the performance of the self-organized community network through simulations. These results show that the self-organized community network maintains a high query hit rate without over ow. As an example of implementation, we propose the Self-Organizable P2P Search Engine.

Web search engines designed on top of peer-to-peer (P2P) overlay networks show promise to enable attractive search scenarios operating at a large scale. However the design of effective indexing techniques for extremely large document collections still raises a number of open technical challenges. Resource sharing, self-organization, and low maintenance costs are favorable properties of P2P over...

Recent research efforts in peer-to-peer (P2P) systems concentrate on providing a “distributed hash table”-like primitive in the P2P system (Stoica et al., 2001). However, to make P2P systems useful, we need to build a keyword search engine to index the entire document collection in the distributed system. Doing keyword search in a distributed environment poses new challenges for traditional inf...

Decentralized and unstructured peer-to-peer (P2P) networks such as Gnutella are attractive for large-scale information retrieval and search systems due to scalability, fault-tolerance, and self-organizing nature. This decentralized architecture, however, makes it difficult for traditional P2P networks to globally share useful semantic knowledge among nodes. As a result, traditional P2P networks...
متن کاملTowards Self-Organizing Communities in Peer-to-Peer Knowledge Management
Recently, many researchers and practitioners have been working at the intersection of knowledge management, peer-to-peer, and online social networks. Results include concrete applications such as P2P knowledge sharing or collaboration platforms on the web (wikis, folksonomy tools). On the other hand, a lot of analyses and models are available that aim at explaining the processes that govern the...

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) applications are dominating the Internet. In a recent P2P Media Summit, a presentation from Cache Logic Research [1] stated that more than half of all Internet traffic is driven by P2P applications. Furthermore, by percentage of Internet traffic, only P2P generated traffic is on the increase. The World-Wide-Web generated traffic is on a steep decline, now responsible for roug...
